Boeing ‘under a microscope’ following door plug blow out over Portland, Buttigieg tells KGW

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited Portland International Airport to discuss how the federal government is addressing airplane safety.

PORTLAND, Ore. — U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg landed in Portland on Monday for a visit that will include a look at construction of the new main terminal at Portland International Airport and checking in with the Interstate Bridge Replacement project.

He also sat down with KGW to talk about aviation safety in the wake of the Jan. 5 incident in which a Boeing 737 MAX 9 jet was forced to make an emergency return to the airport when a plug panel blew off the plane
