Jeff Cogen told his Facebook followers on Monday that he’s “really enjoying” his new job at a Democracy Resources, a Portland signature-gathering firm, , after a “self-inflicted disaster” that ended his tenure as Multnomah County chair last summer.

Shortly after resigning from office, Cogen became vice president for business development at the firm his longtime friend, Ted Blaszak, owns.

In the Facebook post, Cogen alludes to the extramarital affair with county staffer Sonia Manhas that led to his resignation from the county’s top office.

“I’ve been really enjoying my new job as Vice President for Business Development and Strategy at Democracy Resources,” Cogen wrote in the Facebook post this afternoon. “We are a progressive, mission-driven organization that runs grassroots campaigns around the country to qualify ballot measures, elect progressive candidates, educate voters about important issues, register voters and recruit and coordinate volunteers. After the self-inflicted disaster I created this summer, I feel so lucky to have landed in a job that lets me continue fighting for social justice, fairness and protecting the earth.”

As of Monday afternoon, the post had garnered 147 likes and many encouraging comments.

A state Department of Justice investigation into whether Cogen broke any laws in pursuit of the affair is expected to wrap up in November.
