Mandy Kao and Hanry Ho, the owners of Lents neighborhood food hall and cart pod CORE, are opening Publican Beer Room, a new bar. Barrio owner Chris Shimamoto, whose bar at Portland Mercado was destroyed by a fire in January 2024, will bartend.
The bar will share the building that is also home to HeyDay and Sandy’s Myanmar Cuisine, and have an outdoor-facing counter for food cart diners to easily access. Shimamoto plans to serve a selection of sake, soju, makgeolli, and Asian beers, catering to the demographic of the Jade District.
