A Friday afternoon hike in the Columbia River Gorge ended in tragedy when a 70-year-old woman fell approximately 400 feet from a trail near Horsetail Falls, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the accident happened at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Friday, August 28. The woman was about half a mile up the trail when she fell, suffering injuries that proved fatal. A friend who was hiking with her witnessed the emergency and called for help.
