NTSB debriefs on beginning stages of investigation after Boeing 737 MAX 9 was forced to make emergency landing at PDX

Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 made a safe emergency landing at PDX Friday night after a door panel blew out about 5 minutes after takeoff.

PORTLAND, Ore. — On Saturday, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) addressed the preliminary stages of the investigation after a Boeing 737-9 MAX had to make an emergency landing at Portland International Airport (PDX).

The particular focus of the investigation is about the fleet of Boeing 737 MAX-9s but the specific aircraft in Saturday’s incident, said NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy. Homendy said it looks as if the mid-cabin door plug fell off, resulting in rapid decompression.
