Canucks: Thatcher Demko unlikely to return before February

Bruce Boudreau remains optimistic that he may get his No. 1 goaltender back before the end of January.

But he’s also not holding his breath.

Asked Tuesday about the health of Thatcher Demko, the Vancouver Canucks’ head coach said he didn’t have much of an update.

Demko hasn’t played since Dec. 1 when he appeared to injure his groin or hip while moving in his crease.

The Canucks announced the next day he would be out at least six weeks.

A mid-January return now seems unlikely, based on Boudreau’s comments Tuesday.
