National rail strike may cancel Sounder trains Friday, Sept. 16

Commuters might not be able to board Sounder trains starting Friday, Sept. 16.

In the event of a national rail strike, Sound Transit’s Sounder N Line (between Everett and Seattle) and S Line (between Lakewood and Seattle) service may be canceled beginning Friday, Sept. 16 until workers return. Sounder, whose stops include Kent and Auburn, will operate regular service through Thursday, Sept 15.

Sounder trains are operated and dispatched by BNSF Railway employees under contract on tracks owned by BNSF, according to Sound Transit.

Sound Transit is working with its partners to add additional bus service on existing ST Express routes that overlap with Sounder where possible.
