It’s right off Highway 2, with winter magic in either direction. Drive 25 minutes to the southeast and find Leavenworth’s heavily Bavarian-esque city center—perhaps the state’s most iconic seasonal destination, since it’s nestled in among the mountains and looking like a gingerbread village is baked into the town’s very zoning. The Stevens Pass Ski Area is just 25 minutes in the other direction, so you can’t throw a snowball without hitting some kind of cold-weather playground.
