Joe Kennedy, Bremerton football coach fired for prayers, returns to sideline

Joe Kennedy will be back on the sideline for the first time since his firing in 2015.

BREMERTON, Wash. — The man who was fired after holding prayers on the field and to the U.S. Supreme Court returns to a Bremerton High School football field for the first time Wednesday evening.

Joe Kennedy was an assistant football coach at Bremerton who was fired in 2015 for praying with players on the field after the district told him to stop.

Kennedy sued the school district over the firing. The case reached the U.S. Supreme Court which ruled in his favor last year that his prayers
