How Seattle became host of MLB All-Star Game for third time in city's history

SEATTLE — The is returning to Seattle for the third time in the city’s history. The first time the city hosted the game was in 1979, and the second was back in 2001.

It is a competitive process to secure the All-Star Game that takes a lot of time, planning, and money.

The Seattle Sports Commission and the Seattle Mariners submitted a bid in 2020 to host an All-Star game here in Seattle. In September of 2021, it was announced that Seattle would host the 2023 All-Star Week. Beth Knox, the President and CEO of the Seattle Sports Commission, said it is a comprehensive selection process
