Glasswing Greenhouse Reopens After a Two-Year Hiatus

As pandemic-era green thumbs spawned new plant shops around the city, one of Capitol Hill’s most beloved, design-forward purveyors stayed shuttered well after the state’s retail restrictions eased up.

Until now: Glasswing Greenhouse officially reopens at noon on Thursday, June 9.

“It didn’t feel right for us to reopen anytime sooner than now,” says owner Alisa Furoyama, who kept the tiny Olive Way Greenhouse shuttered for two long years in the name of social distancing. In the meantime, though, Glasswing’s houseplant branch kept growing, with a newfound emphasis on interior plant and floral design services.
