On February 27th, 2021 Columbia County Oregon launched a pilot project for in-home vaccinations for people who are homebound and unable to get to vaccination clinics. Qualified homebound candidates took part in the project to test feasibility of in-home vaccinations.
The project is a collaboration between OHSU Family Medicine at Scappoose, Columbia County Public Health, Columbia River Fire And Rescue, and Care Oregon. Community Health Paramedics conducted screenings and administered the vaccine to patients in Scappoose, Rainier, and St. Helens. Paramedics sat with each patient for 15 minutes after vaccinating them. Each person who received a vaccine through the program signed a consent form and was informed of possible side effects.
More mobile vaccinations days are planned for the future. Those who cannot leave home but wish to get vaccinated and want more information about the in-home vaccination project should contact Columbia County Public Health at 503-397-7247.
