Here's how Oregon power companies are adapting to the reality of wildfire weather

Pacific Power’s recent judgment for liability in the 2020 Labor Day fires drives home how utilities need to adapt to hot, dry and windy conditions throughout Oregon.

PORTLAND, Ore. — This last September, Portland General Electric made the call to shut off power for 37,000 customers across Oregon, including in Portland’s West Hills. It happened as a windstorm approached the area during a stretch of hot and dry weather.
