Drivers spent hours in evening commute as winter storm hits Portland

Some drivers on I-5 spent more than seven hours stuck in traffic Wednesday afternoon as snow fell. Many roads experienced lengthy backups from snow and slush.

PORTLAND, Ore. — As the evening commute got underway throughout the Portland metro area Wednesday evening, a day’s worth of snow showers and snow accumulating on the ground contributed to delays and gridlock on nearly every route through the city — resulting in some road closures.
