Crews search Willamette River near Fremont Bridge for reported jumper

Teams are combing the water of the Willamette River searching for an individual who reportedly jumped from the Fremont Bridge Sunday afternoon.

The call came in at 1:38 p.m., according to Portland Fire & Rescue. Portland fire and police along with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office responded and the Coast Guard has been notified.

Witnesses told authorities a jumper hit the water hard and did not surface, instead going immediately under. Details on the individual’s identity are not yet
