Agencies trying to identify body of woman found along Interstate 5 near Woodburn

Law enforcement authorities are working Friday morning to identify a young woman whose body was found near the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Woodburn, the Oregon State Patrol reported.

Just after 5:15 a.m. several people called to say they spotted a body off the shoulder of the interstate, troopers said. Woodburn police and firefighters found the body.

State patrol detectives and representatives from the Marion County medical examiner’s office and the district attorney’s office joined the investigation.

Although the victim has signs of injury, the cause of death is not known. An autopsy has been scheduled.

The woman was described as in her late teens to early 20s, 5 feet to 5 feet 2, and weighing between 100 to 115 pounds. She had shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes. She wore black jeans, dark colored T-shirt, a tan and black zipper sweatshirt with a solid gray hood, and tan hiking style boots.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone traveling along Interstate 5 near Woodburn overnight who may have seen a female matching that description walking in the area, or any vehicles stopped on the side of the northbound lanes prior to 5:17 a.m.
