‘Wild experience’: Dozens sleep outside overnight to celebrate Jollibee’s first Oregon store opening

Dozens of people slept overnight outside Jollibee’s new Oregon location in Hillsboro to try and win a year of free fried chicken.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Philippines-based restaurant chain Jollibee officially opened its first Oregon store on Friday.

Dozens of people slept overnight outside the fast-food brand’s new Hillsboro’s Tanasbourne Village location ahead of the grand opening Friday morning. To celebrate the opening, Jollibee offered free fried chicken for a year to the first 100 customers (50 in-person and 50 drive-thru).

There’ll also be prizes Saturday and Sunday for the first 50 in-person and 50 drive-thru customers. Saturday’s prize is a Jolly Waves Tote
