Why Salt & Straw said no to grocery stores for years — and what finally changed its mind

For the first time in its 15-year history, Salt & Straw products will be available at a grocery store. 

Like many Portland-area food manufacturers, its first foray into grocery is with New Seasons. Starting May 20, consumers can find the novelty Tacolate — the brand’s popular take on an ice cream taco — and a new half-pint product.
