WASHINGTON — The United States Postal Service announced a proposed 8% increase to base postage prices to help combat rising gas prices.
The planned increase, which would take effect April 26 and remain in place until Jan. 17, 2027, if approved, comes a week after Postmaster General David Steiner discussed the mailing agency’s prolonged financial struggles and the dwindling use of mail among Americans.
