Unlikely Tualatin partnership aims to improve quality of nonalcoholic drinks

A winery and a kombucha company decided to collaborate as more consumers cut back on alcohol.

TUALATIN, Oregon — It may sound like an unlikely pairing, but two Tualatin companies — a winery and a kombucha manufacturer — are collaborating to create better-tasting nonalcoholic beverages.

Union Wine Company owner Ryan Harms said the winery is adapting to industry changes, including a trend of fewer people drinking alcohol.

“It’s been a challenging environment in the business,” Harms said.

Known for its Underwood wine-in-a-can, the company is now producing a nonalcoholic version of its popular canned rosé bubbles.
