TriMet launches on-demand transit service for seniors, disabled riders in Gresham

TriMet NEXT pilot program offers Uber-style transit service for vulnerable riders in Gresham, operating seven days a week with standard transit fares.

GRESHAM, Ore. — On Monday, TriMet announced the launch of it’s new public pilot of TriMet NEXT, an on-demand transit service designed to help seniors and people with disabilities connect with their communities in South Gresham and Powell Valley neighborhoods.

The micro-transit service operates similarly to ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft, allowing users to request rides through a smartphone app rather than waiting at traditional bus stops, according to TriMet.
