Here’s a list of businesses offering free meals in the wake of 757,000 Oregonians losing SNAP benefits.
PORTLAND, Ore. — The federal government shutdown continues without an end in sight. On Nov. 1, tens of millions of people in the U.S. are at risk of losing federal food and nutrition benefits as a result. This includes nearly 42 million people who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, previously known as food stamps.
In Oregon, 757,000 people rely on SNAP benefits, or 1 in 6 residents — including 210,000 children and 130,000 older adults statewide.
