TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index was up more than 450 points in late-morning trading as strength in the financial and technology stocks helped power the rally, while U.S. stock markets also marched higher.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 456.55 points at 36,548.16.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 624.99 points at 53,686.94. The S&P 500 index was up 74.15 points at 7,740.75, while the Nasdaq composite was up 330.99 points at 26,548.82.
The Canadian dollar traded for 72.53 cents US compared with 72.13 cents US on Wednesday.
The October crude oil contract was up US$1.36 at US$92.37 per barrel.
