After the federal government began accepting applications for tariff refunds on Monday, Oregon companies began scrambling to submit their paperwork.
The system was set up after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that tariffs collected after President Trump invoked the International Emergency Economic Powers Act were illegal. Some 330,000 different importers paid an estimated $175 billion in Trump administration tariffs.
