Scandals to close downtown Portland bar after 46 years, open new all-ages queer space in Alberta

PORTLAND, Ore. — Scandals, an iconic Portland gay bar, will close its doors Sept. 21 after 46 years on Southeast Harvey Milk Street in downtown Portland. The owner plans to open an all-ages, family-friendly queer space instead.

The new venue will be located in the Alberta neighborhood, at 827 Northeast Alberta St., according to a permit filing. No official opening date has been announced, but it is expected to open in the fall.
