Portland Papa Murphy’s location remains closed after chaotic incident with armed suspect

PORTLAND, Ore. — A Papa Murphy’s in Southeast Portland’s Woodstock neighborhood remains closed following a chaotic incident Wednesday night when a man reportedly entered the store, threatened employees and caused significant damage before surrendering to police.

The suspect, identified by Portland police as 38-year-old Joseph Tyler Thompson, entered the pizza shop and armed himself with multiple kitchen knives. Officers helped employees evacuate the building.
