WASHINGTON — Some Amazon customers have been getting checks in the mail, purportedly from the company, prompting many to wonder if they’re going to be the victims of an elaborate mail fraud scam. But the checks are not a scam, and can be safely cashed.
The checks are part of $1.5 billion being distributed to customers as part of a $2.5 billion settlement between the online retailer and the Federal Trade Commission.
