Oregon tourism leader warns new lodging tax increase could be a slippery slope

The CEO of Oregon’s top hospitality trade group says a tax increase for wildlife conservation sets a risky precedent for the struggling tourism industry.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A bill to increase a tax on hotel rooms and short-term rentals to fund wildlife conservation now heads to Gov. Tina Kotek’s desk for a signature after passing with a strong bipartisan majority in the Oregon Senate on Wednesday.
