Oregon official says it’s ‘misinformation’ that new policies could shut down prized family farms

Agritourism businesses like Topaz Farm and Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm warned this week that new state policies under consideration could put them out of business.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A number of family-owned Oregon farms are on the defensive after state officials proposed changes to permitting policies for farm stands and agritourism — the kinds of farms which families flock to on weekends and throughout the holidays.

But state officials on Wednesday suggested that there’s been a misunderstanding about the policies that are on the table.
