SPRAY, Wheeler County — Hundreds of Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) workers are being laid off after state lawmakers failed to pass a robust funding bill during the 2025 legislative session.
Layoff notices went out Monday to nearly 500 ODOT employees, with up to 200 additional layoffs expected early next year. The cuts come after the Legislature adjourned without passing a funding package to tackle a mass of backlogged projects, much less even allowing the agency to maintain current staffing levels.
