OREGON CITY, Ore. — A former employee pleaded guilty to theft Tuesday for stealing more than $60,000 from a Fred Meyer in Oregon City over a period of months.
A store security officer spotted Rainbow Melodi Stammet taking cash from a self-checkout station in March 2023. When confronted by police, she said she stole the money to support her gambling habit and had spent all of it, with some going to video poker machines, according to a news release from the Clackamas County
