A car-free pedestrian plaza will open this May on Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard, featuring seating, public art, and a solar kiosk for phone charging.
PORTLAND, Ore. — A car-free pedestrian plaza is coming to Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard and 37th Avenue this summer across from the McMenamins Bagdad Theater.
According to the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association, the plaza will be blocked off to traffic and include seating and picnic tables; greenery; public art and street murals; lighting; and a solar kiosk, where people can charge their phones. The kiosk will also have a map and information about the district.
The plaza will be along Southeast 37th Avenue
