Mt. Hood Meadows prepares to shorten ski season next year

Mount Hood’s snowpack hits a 10-year low, part of a growing pattern, prompting Mt. Hood Meadows to rethink next season’s schedule with rising costs.

PORTLAND, Oregon — Mount Hood will end the season with the lowest snowpack in about 10 years, baring an unexpected snowfall, KGW Meteorologist Rod Hill said. The lack of snow led to Mt. Hood Meadows to announce its earliest season closure in recent memory, adding to frustrations from skiers and snowboarders who are used to be able to enjoy the snow until May.
