March Madness permeates Portland ahead of second round: ‘Never too much basketball’

Fans filled local bars to catch Friday night games on a day between action at the Moda Center, anticipating Saturday’s second round.

PORTLAND, Oregon — March Madness continued Friday night in downtown Portland with fans filling local bars and restaurants to catch games on the big screen, on a day between action at the Moda Center.

“Never too much basketball, never too much Zags,” said Gonzaga fan Rachel Ainslie from the Independent Sports Bar in downtown Portland.

Ainslie and several friends drove down to Portland from Seattle to catch the tournament, attending four first round games on Thursday.
