Kotek, Wilson announce new steps to boost housing production, incentivize office-to-housing conversion

The state will be helping to improve permitting processes, incentivizing office-to-housing conversion projects and working on a six-month economic strategy.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Gov. Tina Kotek and Portland Mayor Keith Wilson held a press conference on Thursday, their second within the space of a month to focus on efforts to speed housing development in Oregon’s largest city.

Kotek and Wilson previously announced that the city would waive system development charges in hopes of luring more developers to launch new projects, with the goal of building 5,000 multifamily housing units in the next three years.

Thursday’s briefing was prompted by the recommendations of a workgroup
