The U.S. Department of Labor has ended its Astoria Job Corps contract, causing 168 layoffs.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Th U.S. Job Corps training center in Astoria will shut down and lay off 168 staff members after the federal government terminated its contract.
According to an Oregon WARN notice, a mass layoff notice filed with the state, Management & Training Corp. (MTC) lost its contract with the U.S. Department of Labor to operate the Tongue Point Job Corps Center, effective June 30.
No new operator is slated to operate the center, the filing said.
