WASHINGTON D.C., DC — The James Beard Awards announced the semifinalists for 2026 on Wednesday.
The James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards, established in 1990, recognize chefs, restaurants and others in 25 categories, including for different regions across the country. The award is akin to the Oscars of the food world.
Restaurants apply for the awards. Judges, who mostly remain anonymous, try the cuisine before voting. Nominees are reviewed for the food as well as for a behavioral “code of ethics,” including
