Higgins restaurant staff and former employees plan a potluck to honor their late boss

Chef Greg Higgins and staff are mourning the sudden death of the restaurant’s longtime front-of-house leader, Paul Mallory.

PORTLAND, Oregon — Higgins, one of downtown Portland’s best-known and longest-running restaurants, is mourning the sudden death of co-founder and front-of-house leader Paul Mallory. He died this past week at age 71.

The restaurant on Southwest Broadway was founded 32 years ago by chef Greg Higgins and Mallory, who first met decades earlier when Mallory was tending bar in the same building, then known as the Broadway Review.
