Science World has hired UBC computer science professor Gail Murphy to be its new president and CEO starting Oct. 5.
Murphy recently concluded a nine-year stint as UBC’s vice-president of research and innovation. She has spent much of her career as a researcher in software engineering, creating tools to help software developers manage large codebases and work more productively, according to Science World.
Her business experience includes co-founding Tasktop Technologies, a UBC spinout venture that provided enterprise software solutions and raised US$100 million in seed funding before Plainview acquired it in 2022.
