Amazon’s Ring and Flock Safety cut ties after Super Bowl ad backlash

Ring and Flock Safety ended their partnership. This comes after a Super Bowl ad raised concerns about surveillance overreach.

WASHINGTON — Amazon’s smart doorbell maker Ring and Flock Safety, a police surveillance company, have ended their partnership after a commercial featuring a lost dog that aired during the Super Bowl sparked backlash.

Ring, which is made by Amazon, said it ended the partnership with Flock Safety because the plan to integrate the software would require “significantly more time and resources than anticipated,” the company said in a news release.
