Amazon pledged more than $20 million to address nitrate-contaminated water in Morrow County, as tensions rise over claims its data centers are worsening the problem.
MORROW COUNTY, Ore. — Amazon will pay more than $20.5 million to help homeowners in Morrow County gain better access to cleaner water, settling their part of a lawsuit filed by residents with contaminated well water.
Residents in eastern Oregon continue to be at risk of drinking polluted water drawn from private wells in the Lower Umatilla Basin — an issue KGW has been following for years.
