13 infants sickened by botulism, including cases in Washington and Oregon, prompting formula recall

Health officials are investigating infant botulism cases in Washington, Oregon and eight other states linked to ByHeart powdered formula.

OREGON, USA — Thirteen infants across 10 states, including one in Washington and one in Oregon, have been linked to a botulism outbreak tied to ByHeart powdered infant formula, prompting a voluntary recall of the product, federal and state health officials said.

The Washington case involves an infant from Lewis County, according to the state Department of Health.
