There are weekends on the Oregon Coast when the wind is something you plan around, and then there are weekends when the wind becomes the whole reason to go. From September 25 through 27, 2026, Lincoln City will turn its famously breezy shoreline into a playground of color as the Fall Kite Festival fills the sky with enormous flying whales, squid, octopuses and other creatures that look as if they escaped from a very cheerful dream.
This year brings one especially important change. The festival is temporarily moving away from its traditional home at D River State Recreation Site and heading to the beach beside Chinook Winds
