Martin Luther King’s Niece Becomes Fox News Contributor

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s niece, Dr. Alveda King, has been hired by Fox News to present social commentary. She will bring her views on culture and civil rights to the channel.

Dr. King’s father, Rev. A.D. King, was a civil rights activist who was found dead in a questionable accidental drowning (Alveda King maintains he was “slain”) had similar views to MLK, but could be more controversial. Her mother, Naomi Barber King, married Rev. King when they were teenagers and had five children, Alveda being the oldest.

Dr. Alveda King has six children of her own as well as several grandchildren. She is a minister as well as Director of the African American Outreach for Gospel of Life. Her education includes a Master’s Degree in Business Management, and undergraduate studies in sociology and journalism.

She has written bestsellers about her family and Christian based testimonies. She serves on several prestigious committees in the religious and political sectors.

So, how will Dr. King fit in at Fox News? Based on her personal history and current views, she’ll be in the right place. She proclaims that heterosexual marriage is “sacred,” yet she has divorced three times. This proclamation of the sanctity of marriage is part of her basis for speaking out against LGBT rights. In 2010, she actually compared gay marriage to genocide. Her Pro-Life stance is very public, yet she has had two abortions and attempted to obtain a third one. Based on Fox’s principles, this is probably just fine. Never mind contradictions and controversy.

King has called out President Obama for using the phrase “Cousin Pookie” in his speeches when he is encouraging voters to pull Cousin Pookie off the couch to go vote. She feels this is disrespectful and is “very disturbed” by it. In an interview on Newsmax TV her reference rambled into criticism of Al Sharpton. Is he Cousin Pookie? What’s going on? Seriously? I am Caucasian and we have nicknames for several family members. Whether it’s Pookie or something else, the man was just trying to get people to vote.

Did I mention that King has actually compared Trayvon Martin’s murder to legal abortion? What does that even mean? She has chastised MLK’s wife, Coretta Scott King for pro-choice and pro-equality stances, actually “cursing” her. I wonder what her stand on witchcraft is… Rather than celebrate a plaque that commemorates African American slaves, she used the moment to get on her soapbox to ask for the end of federally funded abortion programs.

King has even criticized Nelson Mandela for not taking a stand against racism, abortion and birth control, and “sexual perversion.”

I can’t help but wonder how her uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would view this hypocritical and judgmental person.

As far as Fox News goes, it’s standard operating procedure to report the “news.” With a background like Dr. Alveda King’s it will certainly be news, just with some major biases and attitudes that will inflame viewers. Those tuning in without looking into her background, assuming she will be like her uncle, are bound to be disappointed.
