Mayors from around B.C. will use the annual meeting of municipal politicians to again call on the provincial government to address concerns related to public safety, as a new survey shows continued fear from residents over crime and violence in their communities.
The Union of B.C. Municipalities’ convention began Monday at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The mayors will hold a news conference Sept. 17 to request “five actions” from the provincial government to “improve community safety, public confidence and quality of life.”
