Portland small business faces break-in day before Mother’s Day

Citizen Ruth lost thousands of dollars to damage and inventory loss after a thief broke in early Saturday morning.

PORTLAND, Ore. — One small business in Northeast Portland is left to recover after a thief broke into the store early Saturday, the day before Mother’s Day, causing damage and making off with goods.

Citizen Ruth is a queer, woman-owned shop filled with local goods and art. The store previously faced an attempted break-in at the end of March, which left owner Jenn with a broken door, but no items were stolen because the suspect did not gain entry.
