The Mavericks are hiring Trail Blazers assistant GM Mike Schmitz as general manager under new team president Masai Ujiri, ESPN reported.
PORTLAND, Ore. — The Dallas Mavericks have hired Portland Trail Blazers assistant general manager Mike Schmitz as their new general manager, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Schmitz has served as an assistant GM for the Trail Blazers since 2022. Before joining Portland, he spent six years as an NBA draft analyst for ESPN.
He will oversee the Mavericks’ day-to-day basketball operations under newly hired team president Masai Ujiri. Schmitz replaces Nico Harrison, who was fired last November, less than a year after trading
