Oregon Gov. Kotek signs bill loosening restrictions for farm stands, propping up ‘agritourism’

The bipartisan bill eases agritourism regulations, allowing larger farm stores and removing revenue limits, aiming to help family farms survive and thrive.

PORTLAND, Oregon — Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek on Wednesday signed a bill loosening regulations for “agritourism” operations across the state — meaning farms that have tourism attractions, such as pumpkin patches, corn mazes, berry picking or Christmas tree farms. 

The bipartisan bill, House Bill 4153, removes a 25% revenue limit for non-farm sources, like ticket sales and concessions, and allows the creation of larger “farm stores” up to 10,000 square feet.
