PGE to acquire PacifiCorp’s Washington utility assets for $1.9B

Portland General Electric would gain about 140,000 Washington customers through the PacifiCorp deal.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland General Electric announced Tuesday a $1.9 billion deal to acquire PacifiCorp’s Washington utility assets, adding about 140,000 Washington customers to the Portland-based company.

Under the agreement, PGE will acquire three facilities: the Chehalis natural gas plant, the Goodnoe Hills wind facility and the Marengo I and II wind facilities. The acquisition also includes 4,500 miles of transmission and distribution lines and local utility operations spanning 2,700 square miles.

The company said customers in Oregon and Washington are not expected to see cost impacts related to the acquisition.
