New Seasons workers set Dec. 4 deadline for contract agreement or face strike starting Dec. 17 over wages and health insurance eligibility disputes.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Nearly 700 New Seasons Market workers across the Portland metro area have voted to authorize a strike before Christmas if contract negotiations fail, the New Seasons Labor Union announced Thursday.
The workers have been negotiating their first contract since January 2023. The union, which joined the United Electrical & Machine Workers of America in September, has set a Dec. 4 deadline for the company to meet their demands. If negotiations fail, workers plan to strike starting Dec. 17.
